ONLINE REGISTRATION NOW CLOSED - WALKERS WELCOME TO REGISTER ON THE DAY
Walkers from across the north-east and Deeside are being asked to lace up their walking boots for a popular annual fundraising event.
The fourth Tartan Trek takes place on Saturday, May 11, and will see walkers explore the scenic Glen Gelder on the Balmoral Estate to raise funds for CLAN Cancer Support.
Participants can choose between two routes over 6k or 17k, with both, for the most part, on fairly flat tracks finishing up with a stunning view of Balmoral Castle.
Susan Crighton, fundraising manager at CLAN, said: “The annual Tartan Trek event, organised and run by local volunteers, continues to go from strength to strength, with over 200 entrants last year helping raise just under £8,000 for CLAN.
“The event aims to bring people together in what is a beautiful part of the Balmoral area, with both routes accessible to participants of all fitness levels.
“CLAN has already established a presence in Ballater, and the Tartan Trek not only aims to raise funds for the charity, but also encourages people to come forward and feel the benefits of the services we offer in Deeside and Aberdeen.”
The walk starts at 11am and has a minimum registration fee of £6 to take part. Participants can enter online via www.entrycentral.com/tartantrek, or registration and sponsor forms can be collected from the CLAN shop in Ballater. Under-16s must be accompanied by an adult and no dogs are allowed.
