CLAN on the hunt for old mobile phones

A leading north-east cancer support charity has renewed its annual mobile phone appeal as it begins its 2015 fundraising campaign.

CLAN Cancer Support is asking anyone who may have an old mobile phone handset to donate it to the charity with a view to it being recycled to raise funds.

The charity is appealing to those who may have received a new phone for Christmas and to those who may be due an upgrade on their existing phone contract. CLAN can accept all mobile handsets, regardless of age and condition.

Susan Crighton, CLAN’s fundraising manager, said: “Traditionally, the start of the year is always a busy period for phone shops and we’re asking anyone who may have an old handset lying around to consider donating it to CLAN.

“Once the handset is donated, we can then recycle the phone to help raise funds for the charity so we’re really on the lookout for handsets of all shapes and sizes; even if they don’t work we can still accept them.

“All money raised from the appeal will go towards CLAN’s provision of free support services to anyone affected by cancer across the north-east of Scotland, Moray, Orkney and Shetland. Your donation really could help make a big difference.”

Donations can be made in person at CLAN House on Westburn Road or at either of the charity’s shops on Rosemount Place and Chapel Street.

CLAN Cancer Support is an independent charity which provides comfort support and information, free of charge, for anyone, of any age, affected by any type of cancer. CLAN aims to support people to reduce anxiety, stress and to increase their ability to cope with the effects of a serious illness.

Based in Aberdeen, the charity covers the whole of north-east Scotland, Moray, Orkney and Shetland. CLAN has a presence in Ballater, Banchory, Elgin, Inverurie, Fraserburgh, Peterhead, Stonehaven, Turriff, Kirkwall and Lerwick.
