Claire Embarks on £20,000 Challenge to Mark 20th Anniversary

Claire Fleming has set herself an ambitious goal to raise £20,000 over a 12 month period to mark the 20th anniversary of her brother’s death. March 2016 marks 20 years since the death of her brother, Christopher Davidson, who lost his two-year battle to cancer in 1996 aged just 14 years old.

Claire has set herself an ambitious goal to raise £20,000 during the next year - £1,000 for each year that has passed. All money raised will be donated to CLAN Cancer Support and will assist CLAN to support teenagers, their siblings and wider families.

Claire comments: “In 20 years so much has happened, but in many ways, it feels like just yesterday. I want to do something positive to commemorate this anniversary. Twenty years ago, support and services for teenagers fighting cancer and their and wider support group were not readily available. Times have changed and CLAN does a fabulous job, but more can always be done – after all being a teenager is tough enough without facing the challenge of cancer.”

Christopher was diagnosed with a brain tumour in the summer of 1994 and fought a brave battle for nearly two years. Over the next 12 months, Claire will undertake a series of fundraising initiatives, challenges and adventures. She is appealing to members of the public to get involved and hold an event or challenge in memory of a clever, happy and outgoing boy.

Claire is working closely with the teams at CLAN and you can follow her progress on JustGiving and Facebook.

Everyone at CLAN will be following Claire’s challenge throughout the next 12 months and wishes Claire and all her friends and family the best of luck!
