North East golfers tee up and tuck in for local charities

(March 2010)  Local golfers are being asked to team up and take part in the 34th charity Pro-Cel-Am golf tournament and gala dinner.

The day tees off at Peterculter Golf Club on Saturday, 31 July, followed by a glittering gala dinner in a marquee on the front lawn of nearby Kippie Lodge.

This year’s event is being held in aid of local charities SPARKS and CLAN (Cancer Link Aberdeen and North) - just two of many local causes to benefit from the £1 million which has been raised since the first tournament was held.

As well as enjoying one of the North-east’s most picturesque golf courses, guests will rub shoulders with Geoff Hurst MBE, the only player to score a hat trick in a World Cup Final, and actor Robert Powell, who have lent their support to the day.

Event director, Steven Scott said: “The golf tournament and gala dinner has helped numerous children’s charities throughout North-east in recent years and we fully expect this year to be just as successful.

“We have already had a great deal of interest in the event so I would urge anyone interested in taking part to get in touch to secure their place.”

Susan Crighton, fundraising manager at CLAN, said: “We are always appreciative of anyone who chooses to support CLAN. Any donation – no matter the size – helps to ensure that we can continue to provide the best possible help and support to our clients throughout the North and East.”
