CLAN Launches 1 - 2 - 3 Campaign
123 Campaign LogoCLAN has launched its new 1 - 2 - 3 Campaign - One charity, has two years to raise £3million.

"CLAN's challenge over the next two years is to raise £3M to build our new cancer support centre and we're hoping to enlist the support of the local community." - Debbie Thomson, CLAN CEO

In 2003, CLAN welcomed 7,500 client visits to CLAN House and by last year this increased to 13,481.  CLAN's board and staff agreed that to achieve their vision to provide cancer support for all over the next 25 years, CLAN needed a new fit-for-purpose facility - a New CLAN House and CLAN Haven.

Just over one year ago CLAN announced that they were looking for a new home and a site to meet their criteria : Close to Aberdeen Royal Infirmary - in a peaceful environment - with ease of access - close to major bus routes and large enough to meet future needs.

The new centre will be specifically designed to meet the needs of CLAN and our clients, with specific children's area, increased therapy and counselling rooms, a larger information centre and nearly double the accommodation in CLAN Haven.  Parking at the new centre will be vastly improved.  The new Centre will be peaceful, bright and designed to accent the surroundings.

CLAN's new centre has been sympatheticaly designed with the needs of all our users in mind and will retain the warm, welcoming and caring environment that CLAN has become renowned for.

It was announced at the official launch at the Marcliffe on 17th March that the 1 - 2 - 3 campaign launch was off to an excellent start.  Three local companies pledged their support for the two year campaign - and collectively AMEC, Urquhart Partnership and Technip will raise £100,000.

- only £2,900,000 to go!

Rotary To The Rescue!
CLAN MinibusThe Rotary Club of Aberdeen have come to the aid of CLAN by fundraising to raise £22K  towards replacing CLAN’s minibus.

CLAN’s minibus transports radiotherapy patients staying at CLAN Haven to and from the hospital for their daily appointments and brings clients to the Centre for their therapy or counselling appointments.

Julie McRobbie, CLAN Manager, said “The minibus is showing signs of its age and as it is in use 362 days a year we are in need of a reliable vehicle”.

The Rotary Club of Aberdeen’s past president, Brian Gill and current President Hugh Munro committed the Club to supporting CLAN’s minibus appeal over their two presidential years.  “We are more than happy to support such a worthwhile charity that helps so many local people”, said Brian Gill.  “The Club have done very well in the time and are almost half way there and we hope by the summer to have achieved our target”.  Members of the Rotary Club of Aberdeen are organising lots of fundraising events including a quiz, virtual walks, private cinema night and annual ball.

If you would like to find out more about any of their events please contact Debbie Thomson at CLAN (01224-647000).
